PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - A Plettenberg Bay man who stabbed a 16-year-old boy to death last year was sentenced to 25 years behind bars.
Police spokesperson Captain Marlene Pieterse said Mongezi Zumana (45) walked into a house in Qolweni at about 01:00 on 3 July 2017 and stabbed the youngster in the chest with a sharp object.
The teenager reportedly tried to flee from his attacker by running out of the house, but fell down between informal dwellings and succumbed to his injuries.
Zumana was arrested and subsequently charged with murder. The matter was heard in the Knysna Regional Court where he was found guilty of murder. He was handed a 25-year prison sentence on 22 May.
Plettenberg Bay station commander Colonel Nolan Michaels said the sentence served as a warning to criminals. He also congratulated the investigating officer in the matter, detective Sergeant Gilbert Bulawa, for his “thorough investigation into the matter to ensure the conviction”.
