GARDEN ROUTE | HESSEQUA | KAROO NEWS - George Airport should also be on the list of airports allowed to reopen for cargo and business travellers under Alert Level 3.
"Considering the significant role this airport plays in providing access to the Garden Route District for business travellers across South Africa, this is bad for business at a time when we should be doing everything we can to open the economy safely and responsibly in the Western Cape," said Western Cape Finance and Economic Opportunities Minister, David Maynier, in a statement on Wednesday 3 June.
"The average number of passengers through the George Airport before lockdown was around 55 000 passengers per month, of whom approximately 40% were business travellers."
