In a candid interview with Knysna-Plett Herald this week Michaels said that his long-term goal for the coastal holiday town was fostering a strong relationship between police and the community they served as he believed it to be a key element in fighting crime and creating a safer Plettenberg Bay.
“I know we can become an example to other police stations and towns on the effectiveness of a good relationship between police and the community.”
Michaels and his team have already come a long way in establishing community ties in the form of effective neighbourhood watches, a crime prevention association, street committees and a Community Police Forum (CPF).
