KNYSNA TENNIS NEWS - When Level 3 was announced at the start of June, numerous sporting codes could return to play for the first time in just over two months. These included bowling, canoeing, squash - and tennis, which meant local tennis clubs were allowed to reopen their doors and courts to members too.
But, it would take another month of preparation and finalising of return-to-play conditions and regulations before they could fully return to the court.
"It's been an overwhelming sigh of relief from most of our members to be out on the court again," said Dave Wright, head of the tennis section at Leisure Isle Country Club (LICC). "We pride ourselves on being a very social club, so whenever we play it's always a lot of fun for all involved."

Most of the members at LICC are above the age of 60, and for many of them their tennis was their only exercise.
"The fresh air has been so good for everyone, and being able to get some Vitamin D has been wonderful," Wright said. There are strict measures in place at the club, in accordance with Covid-19 protocols, and members have to book playing times in advance.
"There have been hiccups along the way, with one or two ground staff testing positive for the virus, but on each occasion the club was closed and cleaned." This has not deterred avid players either, as they have happily returned to the courts at LICC to enjoy their favourite pastime.
