KNYSNA NEWS - Two athletes from Knysna recently took part in the Destiny-Rise of Iron bodybuilding competition in Mossel Bay and held their hometown's name high by both winning their respective categories.
Bradley Kiewitz and Dylon Butler, both trained by MaxFitt Body Building, took gold at the competition held on Saturday 7 April at the Garden Route Casino in Mossel Bay.
Butler competed in the Juniors u23 bodybuilding and Novice Men u70kg categories and won both categories "with ease", according to Aschin Klein of the Greater Knysna Rugby Club.
Kiewitz took part in the Novice Men's Physique and Men's Physique Open categories in his first bodybuilding competition. "Clayton, a former Greater Knysna Rugby player and SWD Eagles u20 rugby player, converted to bodybuilding this year and also took gold in both of his categories," said Klein.
According to the body builder's trainer and owner of MaxFitt Maxwell Kiewitz, the two men started a bit late with their preparation for the show, so they only had about nine or ten weeks of preparation work.

"I am really very happy with the boys, I feel that they by far brought the best conditioning to the show and a lot of members from the crowd congratulated me on their conditioning, which is what MaxFitt is all about," said the trainer.
"We don't obsess ourselves with size," he added, "but like Arnold Schwarzenegger stated 'to be pleasing to the eye you need an hourglass/x shape body and not to be shaped like a bottle'. This is what we aim for and that is what the boys brought to this show. I see only improvements coming from here on," he said.
