KNYSNA NEWS - The KLFA Domestic League returned in a temporarily revised format this past weekend with six teams going head to head on Saturday and Sunday, 20 and 21 November.
The return of the league, which is organised by the Knysna Local Football Association (KLFA), comes five months after the 2020/21 season concluded in June, where Red Eagles won their fourth title and first since the 2017/18 season.
This win meant that Red Eagles were promoted to compete in the Safa Eden Regional League for the 2021/22 season, where they had a flying start and are currently holding their own and Knysna's name high.
The previous season also saw KLFA Super League champions Richmond City, runners-up Voota, and third-placed Crossroads promoted to the KLFA Domestic League.
The six clubs facing off against one another last weekend were Richmond City, Voota, African Eagles, Young Chiefs, Pine Stars, and 2020/21 Domestic League runners-up Flamingo.
The first group of fixtures was played on Saturday 20 November, with Richmond City and Pine Stars going head to head at Loerie Park.

The two newly promoted teams were next in line with Richmond City getting their day back on track with a 1-0 win against Voota.
Flamingo overcame their earlier blemish by beating Pine Stars 2-1, while Young Chiefs and African Eagles played out to a 1-1 draw.
The next day Richmond City and African Eagles faced off first, and the latter won the opening clash 2-1.
Pine Stars earned the biggest win of the weekend in the next fixture, beating Young Chiefs 7-0. Flamingo and Voota wrapped up the day's proceedings, with the former winning 3-2 in a tight encounter.
