Zimbabwe, Namibia and Kenya have been invited to send their teams to the tournament which will be contested by all 12 CSA affiliates plus associate members KZN Inland.
Each local team will be allowed to field one contracted Proteas and four franchise players, but the starting XI must also include at least two U21 players, meaning the tournament will provide an intriguing mix of established stars and rising talent.
The competition will consist of four pools of four teams each with the winners of each pool advancing to the semi-finals, the winners of which will contest the final.
Pool A, to be hosted by Easterns at Willowmoore Park in Benoni, will kick off the action from Friday, September 4th to Sunday September 6th, with Northerns, Zimbabwe and Western Province taking on the home side in a round-robin league.
Pool B will then play their round-robin from September 11-13 in Potchefstroom, with hosts North-West, KZN Inland, Boland and Border competing for a place in the semi-finals.
The third leg of the Africa Cup T20, between Griqualand West, Namibia, KwaZulu-Natal and Eastern Province, will be held in Kimberley from September 18-20, with the pool stages concluding in Bloemfontein from September 25-27 with Free State, South-Western Districts, Gauteng and Kenya doing battle for honours in Pool D.
The semi-finals will be held on October 3rd, and the final – starting at 2pm – on October 4th.
