KNYSNA NEWS - The Oakhill School community was treated to an evening of artistic excellence at this year's Music in the Blue concert, a showcase of music, dance and visual art that highlighted the learners' talents.
The polished musical performances and captivating dance routines celebrated creativity and self-expression. The performers took to the stage with confident enthusiasm that reflected long hours of preparation.
Guests also enjoyed an impressive art exhibition featuring artwork and clay sculptures created by Grade Eight to 11 learners.
Oakhill's director of music and the arts, Laticha van Wageningen, said over years of teaching music, she has learned that if you want students to love music for the rest of their lives, you should teach them a skill that is possible to accomplish, maintain and love.
"It is not always the most skilled student who produces the best performance. It is the student who performs from their heart, passionately, playing through the mistakes and captivating the audience. This is what Music in the Blue is all about."
Her words captured the spirit of the evening perfectly. Music in the Blue celebrated not only technical excellence, but also courage, authenticity and the power of the arts to connect performers and audiences.
Oakhill School congratulates all the students, staff and organisers who contributed to another unforgettable Music in the Blue.
