KNYSNA NEWS - Hard work and dedication paid off for two young dancers of Forest Edge School when sisters Chloe and Lily Mello took to the floor at the recent Friendly City Dance Festival in Gqeberha.
Representing the Sidwell Roman School of Ballet, these two learners impressed the adjudicators with a series of polished performances, earning a haul of gold medals across several disciplines.
Grade Six learner Chloe was particularly successful, claiming double gold for both her classical solo and national solo in the 11-12-year category. She also earned double gold as part of the 12-years-and-under free movement/lyrical group.
Chloe added gold medals for her demi-character solo and repertoire solo, both in the 11-12-year category, as well as for the mixed ages freestyle group and the mixed ages classical group - pointe.
Her younger sister, Grade One learner Lily, also had an outstanding festival. She earned gold for her classical solo and demi-character solo in the five-six-year category, as well as for the eight-years-and-under free movement/lyrical group and demi-character group.
The sisters’ strong showing is a testament to their commitment and the hours of training behind their performances.
