Update
KNYSNA NEWS - Slain ANC councillor's Victor Molosi's Ward 8 is once again in the hands of the ANC after a landslide by-election victory last week, with the new councillor Thando Matika expected to be sworn into council soon. With 84% of the votes, the ANC beat the DA (13%) and EFF (2.92%) hands down and retains the seat it won in 2016 after securing 72% of votes against the DA's 16% at the time.
Many residents in the area told Knysna-Plett Herald that they voted for the ANC to honour Molosi.
On social media platforms, others expressed how a vote for Matika is a vote for Molosi and how they trust the 30-year-old representative to lead them.
Many locals also said they voted for Matika because they knew him as Molosi's right-hand man, while they had no prior knowledge of DA candidate said Andisiwe Gungubele before the by-elections.
ANC regional secretary Moyisi Magalela commended the ANC volunteers who dedicated their time during this process.
