Update
KNYSNA NEWS - In a bail application for a Schedule 6 offence, the accused in the murder case of much-loved ANC leader Victor Molosi were scheduled to take to the stand and cite evidence to satisfy the court that the interest of justice permits their release.
First to take the stand at the Knysna Magistrates Court was Mandla Tyololo charged with conspiracy to commit murder. His case will now be appearing separate from that of Knysna councillor Velile Waxa, Knysna municipal official Mawande Makhala and Vela Patrick Dumile.
Vela Patrick Dumile followed Tyololo on the stand. Dumile, who initially abandoned his bail application and is represented by Thabo Nogemane, said his reason for wanting to be granted bail was that he is epileptic and that he has another illness that he suffers from which he cannot pronounce.
Dumile said, regarding his difficulty with speech, that this was due to an accident he had in 2010 that left him with a speech impediment and his left side weakened. Later he would be leaning on what he said was his weak arm and regained a level of proper speech.
So far Dumile is the only accused to take the stand while Makhala signed a document that was read by his Legal Aid representative. These two, together with Knysna councillor Waxa and his lawyer Daan Dercksen are set to appear on the 24 October. Tyololo will appear again on the 18 September.
