PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - A wool collection drive has been launched in aid of the New Horizons Pensioners Club, to brighten up the lives of the elderly community on the outskirts of Plettenberg Bay.
The New Horizons Pensioners Club recently moved in to premises previously known as the Sterreweg Centre.
This centre unlocked freedom for the elderly community in many aspects, including taking part in various activities such as crafting, knitting, stitching and even some minimal-impact exercise.
This new club's premises needs a lot of TLC. Continuous fundraising initiatives enable them to not only buy crafting, knitting and sowing materials to keep them busy during the day but also to provide necessities such as food and care for members on club days.
The Plettenberg Bay Crime Prevention Association's (PBCPA) outreach arm has launched a wool collection drive for them, and anyone interested in supporting it, can drop off wool at PNA Market Square.
'Betterment of everyone'
"While the PBCPA evolved into more than just a crime prevention association, we have not lost our focus on our primary goal, working with our security, emergency partners and members of good standing towards the betterment of everyone living in the greater Bitou," PBCPA operations head Otto Olivier said.
He added that the Friends of the PBCPA Community outreach arm is made up of a group of volunteers living or working in terms of the moral of the starfish story:
"Any individual can make a difference, maybe not be able to save the world, but can do something to make a difference, even if that difference is only felt by one person."
