KNYSNA NEWS - What started as a small hobby among local model train enthusiasts has taken a giant leap with the town's first model railway exhibition.
Held at St George's Anglican Church from Friday to Saturday, 4 to 5 July, the event attracted widespread interest.

The exhibition featured a range of model train layouts in various scales, interactive elements for children, and live demonstrations by experienced modellers. For many attendees, it was not just a visual treat but also an educational experience in the art of miniature engineering and creative design.
One of the standout contributors was Tristen Biüchsenstein (17), the group's youngest enthusiast. While most displays focused on trains, Biüchsenstein showcased his collection of remodelled military tanks and hand-painted figurines. His work, detailed and historically inspired, impressed both fellow hobbyists and visitors.
The event drew over 180 visitors on its opening day, exceeding the organisers' expectations.
"This exhibition marks an important milestone for our group," said the organiser, Brian Messenger. "From running trains on backyard tracks to hosting a full public exhibition, it's fantastic to see so many people enjoying the world of model railroading."
Proceeds from the event were donated to local charities, including KAWS, Youth for Christ and the Knysna Epilepsy Centre.
