KNYSNA NEWS - In an inspiring display of faith and determination, three generations of women recently completed a 447km walk across the Western Cape to raise awareness and funds for Teia Lodge, a future safehouse and step-up rehabilitation centre.
Theri Rossouw (47), her mother, Elaine Fuller (75), and foster daughter, Trinity Law (13), set out from Houwhoek on 7 September, walking over 20 days to Knysna.
Their journey aimed to shine a light on the urgent need for safe, supportive spaces for individuals seeking healing, recovery and a second chance at life.
The route took them through train passes, gravel farm roads, tunnels and flowering canola fields, with long stretches along the N2.
Along the way, they were cheered on by passing motorists and supported by strangers who offered food, water and words of encouragement. Each evening, they were graciously hosted at guest houses, campsites, farms and private homes - all sponsored by people moved by their mission.
Despite physical challenges - including blisters, sore joints and 30km days, the journey was rich with meaningful encounters.
They connected with families in crisis, professionals offering their services and supporters passionate about launching Bands of Glory, a Christian music festival that will help fund the lodge's construction.
The walk ended at Knysna Primary School's sportsfields on 26 September, when they were welcomed at the Youth for Christ Battle of the Bands.
A Bands of Glory event is set for Easter Weekend 2026, offering a multi-day, come-and-camp worship festival to celebrate faith and raise funds for Teia Lodge. To donate or learn more, visit www.faithjourney.co.za.
