PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - The Plett Arts Festival returns from 3 to 13 October and the Plett Arts Association is thrilled to contribute with Brush Strokes and Beyond, an engaging art exhibition and workshop series hosted at the Piesang Valley Community Hall from Friday to Thursday, 3 to 9 October.
Celebrating creativity in all its forms, the exhibition will feature a vibrant mix of local talent, from seasoned professionals to enthusiastic amateurs.
Visitors can explore an inspiring collection of paintings, drawings and mixed media works, with 10% of all art sales donated to the Hospice Plett (PlettAid Foundation).
In addition to the exhibition, several interactive workshops and demonstrations will invite community participation:
• Children's art workshops - playful, hands-on creativity for young artists.
• Wet felting workshop - transforming wool into unique fabric art.
• Clay workshop - a tactile dive into form, shape and texture.
• Charcoal drawing demonstration with Gary Davis - recreate half of his original lion profile charcoal drawing originally completed over months and now held in a private German collection.
During the festival, attendees will be invited to sign the new piece at the official opening, which Davis will complete live, creating a collaborative work of art.
A raffle in support of Hospice Plett will run throughout the exhibition, with prizes donated by local businesses and artists.
