SEDGEFIELD NEWS - Locals Joe and Alfred Robinson and feathered friend, enjoyed a fun day out in the sun when the Sedgefield Lions Club recently did their part in the fight against woman and child abuse by hosting a charity fundraiser day at their clubhouse in Sedgefield.
On 22 August, the organisation put together an exciting day in beautiful weather that brought out people in support of Families SA (Famsa) and LifeLine, two organisations at the forefront of the fight against family violence.
The entry fee for the day was R50, which included a boerewors roll, while R30 could be donated to either Famsa or LifeLine at the discretion of the entrant.
A short route along the lagoon road and around The Island was set up by Eugene Roux of Cycleworx, and people were able to hop on their bikes and enjoy a fun day out. There were also cold drinks, hot drinks and pancakes for sale.
At the end of the day, the Lions tallied up a total of R1350 for Lifeline and R1250 for Famsa.
Participants take on the short route in town.
Cyclists gear up to head out on the route.
