Update
KNYSNA NEWS - The three men accused of the murder of Knysna councillor Victor Molosi, who was gunned down outside his Concordia home in July last year, appeared briefly in the Knysna Magistrate's Court on Tuesday 5 February.
What transpired in court is that the accused – Knysna former councillor Velile Waxa, Knysna municipal official Mawande Makhala and Cape Town resident Vela Patrick Dumile – were informed that there would be a pretrial conference in the George Magistrate's Court on 15 March.
Copies of the indictment were given to the defence and Dumile, who was conducting his own defence, later said his family has appointed a lawyer for him.
Among others, the document stipulated that the trial would take place in Mossel Bay. Upon this news, Waxa's attorney Daan Dercksen questioned the practicality of the matter being heard there when 21 of the 38 witnesses are based in Knysna. The court took cognisance of this submission for remanding the matter.
