KNYSNA NEWS - The Knysna Council will not be dissolved, and the present council will stay in place.
This emerged from a report submitted by the Select Committee of the National Council of Provinces, chaired by Thomas Mxolisi Kaunda.
The National Council of Provinces voted to reject the move by Anton Bredell, Western Cape MEC for Local Government, to dissolve the Council and place the municipality under administration in terms of Sections 139 (c) of the Constitution.
Seven provinces voted to support of the Select Committee’s report, two voted against.
