GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Six suspects were arrested after drugs with an estimated street value of R50 000 were found in their possession in Plettenberg Bay over the weekend.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson, Sgt Chris Spies, members of George Crime Intelligence, Kwanokuthula Crime Prevention Unit and neighbouring police stations pounced on a house in Gogolin Street in Kwanokuthula, Plettenberg Bay on Saturday 6 August.
“The team proceeded with a search of the premises which led to the confiscation of 166g of tik, 100 Mandrax tablets and a small quantity of cocaine,” he said.
“Police confiscated the drugs estimated at R48 500 and a small scale. A 53-year-old occupant of the premises was arrested on a charge of dealing in drugs.”
The same team also conducted operations at two premises in New Horizons, Plettenberg Bay on Friday 5 August, where five suspects aged between 26 and 43 were arrested after small quantities of Mandrax and tik were found in their possession.
All those arrested are expected to make their first court appearances once charged.
Garden Route District Commissioner, Maj-Gen Norman Modishana, commended the members for their efforts to remove drugs and items that threaten the safety of communities from the streets.
