PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Two secretary birds, saved from the brink of death after the devastating June Knysna and Plettenberg Bay fires, were successfully released in Plett this week after months of rehabilitation.
The two birds were rehabilitated at Radical Raptors, a rehabilitation centre for birds of prey just outside Plett, over the past three months after they were brought to the centre from Plett and the Knysna Lagoon following the fires.
Both birds were starving and on the brink of death when they were found.
Tania Robson of the centre said that after the birds were nursed back to health they decided to release them on Monday, September 11, 2017 at the Plettenberg Bay Game Reserve.
The release was successful and both birds spread their wings and flew off.
