PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Conservation was the focus of Formosa Primary School's Career Day last week when several organisations spoke to the youngsters about career possibilities within the field.
Each year the teachers at the school decide on a theme for the day and invite related organisations in Plettenberg Bay to give a 15-minute speech on the work they do and the possibilities in their field.
This year the focus was on conservation.
One of the organisations that gave some input was the Nature's Valley Trust. The team was invited to do a presentation, alongside the team from the Orca Foundation, about the work they do around Plettenberg Bay.
"We had 250 learners from Grade R through to Grade 7 joining us on Central Beach.
"After the presentations, the learners were divided into grade groups for a 40-minute beach cleanup," said Nature's Valley Trust director Mark Brown.
The top items collected during the cleanup were cigarette butts, tin cans, glass and plastic bottles and food wrappers.
Attentive ears take in a talk by one of the speakers during their recent Career Day.
