Music styles ranging from praise and worship, reggae to amapiano had the crowds going. "The reason for the day's festivities is to commemorate everything that happened in Soweto in 1976. Today we are just celebrating differently, in terms of the opportunities and platforms that we are creating for the youngsters," says Shahida Segula, Youth Development Officer for Knysna Municipality.
Ticket proceeds from the day contributed directly to the development of youth programmes in the Knysna community.
The youth development programmes and organisations that benefitted from the concert are the Keep a Girl in School Programme, the Boy Child Programme, The Hornlee Community Band Training Initiative, Sinethemba Youth Development Centre as well as the Class of 2023 Skills Summit and a Career Exhibition that will equip the youth with valuable insights into various career paths and opportunities.
The event succeeded in providing fun, inclusive and interactive entertainment for all ages as well as contributing to the betterment of the youth.
The June 16 Youth Day Market and music festival provided hearty entertainment for young and old alike.
