PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS – An alleged barefoot burglar met his match thanks to eagle-eyed crime fighters in Plettenberg Bay on Tuesday 16 May.
Plettenberg Bay Crime Prevention Association (PBCPA) operations head Otto Olivier said that their response team received an alert of a burglary in Magneten Street on Tuesday.
"It also mentioned that the suspect had left his shoes behind before fleeing the scene," Olivier said.
During this time, PBCPA responder Arthur Kayster spotted a man strolling down Robberg Road who was not wearing shoes.
"Arthur stopped and asked where his shoes were. The person's answer was vague. During further investigation it was determined it was the culprit who broke into the house in Magneten Street. The stolen items were found in the suspect's possession."
Kayster arrested the suspect on the spot and handed him over to the police.
Olivier commended Kayster as well as the local police, Plett Rapid Response and Smhart Security for their swift response and assistance. Local police confirmed the incident.
