SEDGEFIELD NEWS - Voting stations in Sedgefield are alive with voters coming out in their numbers to make their mark during the 2021 local government elections (LGE).
Voter queues at the Sedgefield voting stations have been impressive since early this morning. Residents have been eager to make their mark in the LGE, and at the Ward 1 voting station at Sedgefield Primêre Skool, party representatives contesting the ward made sure they brought a party atmosphere to the area.
The Slow Town makes up the first two wards in Knysna Municipality, and has historically been a stronghold for DA support. In 2011 the party triumphed in Ward 1 with 52,88% of the vote, while they won out Ward 2 with 82,83% of the vote.
The LGE in 2016 saw the restructuring of the two wards, but this didn't bring about any changes in the outcome. The DA won Ward 1 again with 52,89% and Ward 2 with 83,66% of the vote.
All voting stations opened at 07:00 and are open to voters up to 21:00 tonight.
You can check your registration status and confirm your voting station online, at https://www.elections.org.za/pw/#.
