KNYSNA NEWS - Knysna Municipality recorded strong expenditure on conditional grant funding during the 2025/2026 financial year, with most allocations fully spent on infrastructure and service delivery projects.
The R7 million Water Services Infrastructure Grant was fully spent, including on the rehabilitation of boreholes. The municipality also spent 100% of its R27.765 million Municipal Infrastructure Grant (MIG) allocation, with two rollover MIG projects also fully spent.
The Integrated National Electrification Programme’s R10 million allocation was fully spent on the Knysna Main Intake Substation Upgrade, while water resilience funding was fully utilised for pump station optimisation and the supply of pumps.
The Neighbourhood Development Partnership Grant recorded expenditure of R14.552 million, or 97% of its R15 million allocation. The balance relates to a project continuing into the 2026/2027 financial year.
A further R574 764 rollover allocation from the Municipal Energy Resilience Grant was fully spent on completing a supply study.
Executive Mayor Thando Matika welcomed the expenditure performance, saying it demonstrated the municipality’s commitment to turning government funding into tangible benefits for residents.
