Fire has over the centuries been used as an important tool in the ecological management of many forests, woodlands, fynbos and other vegetation types.
Many plants depend both directly and indirectly on regular controlled burning for seasonal regrowth.
On the 18 April 2018, Working on Fire together with the Southern Cape FPA, Sanparks, MTO and Firstcare Widfire support, conducted an ecological burn at the Protea Village in Goudveld, North east of Rheenendal outside Knysna in the Southern Cape.
WOF TV News Journalist, Christalene De Kella, was present and filmed this story that explains the importance of doing regular ecological burns in order for vegetation to regrow.
