PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Thousands of rands' worth of drugs were taken off the streets in Plettenberg Bay on Tuesday 15 June, following a tip-off from the local community.
Southern Cape police spokesperson Sgt Chris Spies said concerted efforts to rid communities of drugs led to drugs with an estimated street value of R90 000 being confiscated at a house in Kwanokuthula.
He said the Kwanokuthula police received a tip-off from the public about drugs that had been delivered at a house in Phase 3 at about 09:00.
"The officers swiftly responded and operationalised the information when they descended on the premises. A search of the premises ensued which resulted in the discovery of 1 786 Mandrax tablets which were hidden under a black jacket on a sofa inside the house," Spies said.
Officers confiscated the drugs and arrested a 48-year-old man for allegedly dealing in drugs.
"The suspect remains in custody. He will appear in court once charged."
Western Cape police management praised the officers for their swift response which led to the confiscation and thanked the public who had made "this valuable report to the police".
