KNYSNA NEWS - After spending just short of a month in isolation, Knysna Ward 10 councillor Peter Myers and his wife Candace are becoming anxious about eventually leaving their home once the lockdown is over.
"I've developed a mild case of agoraphobia, just thinking about leaving the house in the near future makes me a bit anxious," Candace said this week.
The couple contracted Covid-19 while on a trip to Switzerland, Prague and Vienna. When they arrived back home on 13 March, they say they immediately went into self-isolation as a precautionary measure. It was not long after that the two started showing symptoms of the virus and later tests confirmed the worst.
They have, since last week, been asymptomatic and have passed the doctor's 14-day isolation mark, and this week they continue the attempt to get back to what has become the country's new normal.
"We are very well and doing what we need to do. The only reason I know it is Monday, is because I had to take my rubbish out," said Candace.
A concern for her, however, are the figures of positive cases in Knysna rising. "We would have thought that the isolation efforts would have made a difference, so I don't know why they [the figures] are climbing after this time period."
Knysna's latest figures show that 12 people have been infected.
