KNYSNA NEWS - On Saturday 19 August, various biking factions of Knysna joined forces with My Father's House Baptist Church to organise a mass ride for Women's Month to celebrate the women in the community.
The motorcycle organisations represented were: Road Eagles Motor Association, Bikers for Life, Free Stylerz and Sunset Riders.
The event was spearheaded by Reverend S. Nicholas Mfecane, the presiding pastor at My Father's House Baptist Church, and the Bishop of the Road Eagles biking fraternity.
The bikers assembled at Cathy's Park around 9:00 and 'clutch up' began at 09:30, with their journey heading up to My Father's House Church to meet with the ladies in the community and hand over gifts.
As an expression of gratitude and support, the biking fraternity and the church prepared special gifts as tokens of appreciation to serve as reminders that their contributions are recognised and celebrated.
The aim of the event was to uplift the spirits of the women and let them know that they are highly regarded members of the community. Thereafter the bikers escorted the women to breakfast at Falcon Creek Spur. The gathering was an opportunity for the women to relax, connect with one another, and celebrate their shared experiences and achievements.

"Different motorcycle clubs and associations are represented here today to come together and pamper the women in our community. We want to shatter the perceptions of bikers, that they are hardened hooligans, but rather fathers, sons, grandfathers, husbands and also mothers themselves," says Mfecane, who is also the Bishop of the Road Eagles.
"We want to let the women in the community know that in times of gender based violence - that we see happening all around us - that we as the biking community see this and stand against it. We are here to protect women in the community. Bikers value lives and vouch to protect them."
The collaboration between the biking fraternity and My Father's House Baptist Church exemplifies the power of unity and community engagement. By combining their resources and passions, they created a unique, exhilarating and meaningful experience for the women of Knysna.
The symbolism behind this action highlights the biking community's dedication to protecting the safety and well-being of all women in the community.
