PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Both suspects in the recent Kwanokuthula spaza shop murder are now behind bars and are expected to appear in the Plettenberg Bay Magistrate’s Court on Monday 5 September.
The first was arrested on Thursday and the second on Friday.
Southern Cape police spokesperson Sgt Chris Spies said the arrests were made through a combined crime combatting effort by various role players, including the local police, Garden Route District Rural Flying Squad, local security companies and community volunteers.
The robbery during which an Ethiopian shopkeer was killed took place in Shishuba Street at about 11:40 on Wednesday 31 August.
Preliminary investigations indicated that two men, one armed with a firearm, entered the shop and demanded cash. An altercation ensued and the shopkeeper sustained a gunshot wound.
The suspects took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene.
The 27-year-old victim was declared dead by paramedics on the scene.
