Gerald Logan from Knysna writes:
Whereas we motorists are inconvenienced by the flooded road [at the intersection of Wilson and Howard Street] my concern has always been for domestic and other workers who either have to wade through the water or find a longer route in order for them to get to their places of work, adding hours to their journeys.
I have brought this to the attention of the municipality on a regular basis over the past year or so but it is clear that the municipality has no regard whatsoever for the workers.
A simple solution would be to install a simple wooden walkway alongside the road or even put adequate stepping stones along the side of the road for them to use.
Kevin Rixon told the Knynsa-Plett Herald:
It is bad enough having to slowly inch through this swamp in a motor car, hoping you don't vanish into a giant pothole.
A lot of domestic workers and other folk don't have vehicles and so they simply have to walk through this swamp barefoot.
How horrible is that that nobody in the municipality cares about fixing it.
No comment was forthcoming from the municipality at the time of going to press. Ed.
