Regarded as one of the most prestigious swimming events on the annual calendar, the gala attracted teams from as far as Cape Town and Port Elizabeth.
Built on their recent long-course gala success in Port Elizabeth, Dragons coach Grant Ferguson, again fired up his Dragons resulting in most of them improving on personal best times. The results must also be considered in the light of minimal training facilities available to swimmers in Knysna.
The Dragons Club has embarked in a concerted effort to try develop an aquatic centre for Knysna that will benefit the whole of its population, especially previously disadvantaged communities which have had minimal opportunities to enjoy water sports in the past since the Knysna public swimming pool was demolished in the 1980s.
