KNYSNA NEWS - Rugby club Knysna United's first team has maintained its fine form in the start of the 2022 SWD club rugby season, earning their second win in a row at Loerie Park last weekend.
Knysna United faced off against Albertinia Rangers in Knysna on Saturday 26 March, coming hot off a win against Thistles in Friemersheim two weeks ago.
The two clubs take part in SWD Rugby's Super League B, and while they are not required to field third teams like the clubs in Super League A, they still arranged an exhibition match for their third sides on Saturday.

Proceedings kicked off with the match between the two third teams at 13:30, providing a teaser into the tough and exciting rugby that lay in wait for the crowd of supporters that filled the grandstand at Loerie Park.
There was little to separate the two sides, and Albertinia fended off a late charge from Knysna to secure a narrow 5-3 victory.
The second teams' game followed as the first competitive fixture of the day, and was promising from the get-go with exciting rugby on show from the moment the first whistle blew. Manfred Soldaat carries the ball forward after dummying a pass to Dale Bastian.
It was however the men visiting from Albertinia who seemed to have the upper hand for most of the game, holding a 19-5 lead going into the last 10 minutes.
Spurred on by the support from the crowd, Knysna United staged a late fight-back, even securing a try to go within seven points of yet another draw.
But, Albertinia's defence ultimately stood firm and Knysna had to settle for a tough 19-12 loss - their first of the season having drawn against Thistles the week before.
The final match of the day proved to be what the home fans had been crying out for all day, as a determined Knysna United first team roared into life in the first half.
Albertinia could not register a single point in the first half, with Knysna holding a 19-0 lead at the break.
Despite Albertinia outscoring the hosts in the second half, Knysna's two second-half tries proved to be enough to secure them a 29-21 win - their second of the season so far, giving them a 100% record from two games.

While Knysna and Albertinia were trading blows, Sedgefield Eagle Stars faced Evergreens in George in the Super League A, SWD Rugby's top tier of club rugby.
In this league, clubs are mandated to have a third team and the two clubs' third sides faced off first. The home team whitewashed their visitors, winning 41-0 to get the day going for Evergreens.
The second teams' game was far closer but Evergreens still emerged victorious, winning 35-22. The first-team game was yet another tough one for Eagle Stars as they lost 46-13 to round out a hard day in George for the men from Sedgefield.
