SEDGEFIELD SPORT NEWS - Sedgefield Eagle Stars Rugby Club continued its strong form in the SWD President's League Coastal with powerful, dominant performances over Bitou on Saturday, 4 May.
Eagle Stars's First XV headed into the encounter with two wins, one draw, and three bonus points under the belt out of the three games they had played until then, which saw them lie second on the log behind only Garden Route Rugby Club.

Their Second Team had been far more dominant in their division prior to the game however, and were lying top of the log with three bonus point victories coming so far this season.
Bitou however was on the other end of fortune spectrum, as the First XV had only won one of three games while the seconds had lost all tree games they had played before making the trip to Smutsville. Bitou did have a slight mental edge however, as Eagle Stars haven't been able to beat Bitou in the last few years.
The Second Team set out to change that immediately, as they ran riot in their match against Bitou to continue their dominance in the Second Team division of the league. Eagle Stars managed to rake in 12 tries at home against Bitou, while the away side could only muster up three points, with the final score after 80 minutes standing at 70-3 to Eagle Stars to extend their lead the top of the leaderboard.
The First XV game seemed a bit slow out of the blocks, as both sides were a tad tentative and weary of their opposition, but that all seemed to change when Eagle Stars fly-half Gerswin Dirk intercepted a Bitou pass and broke the line to run in the first try of the game. This seemed to break the Bitou dam wall as Eagle Stars would end up running in a further 10 tries while Bitou could only cross the whitewash once with the game ending at 65-10 to the home side.
Eagle Stars right wing Royston Dirk was the man of the match as he scored a hat-trick of tries while eight other players managed to dot the ball down for Eagle Stars.
