RUGBY NEWS - Vodacom Bulls coach John Mitchell lamented his side’s “lack of patience” on attack as they went down 20-14 to the Reds in Brisbane on Saturday morning.
Mitchell said he didn’t have too much problem with the team’s discipline, although they gave away a number of penalties as they defended for most of the second half and lost an early 14-3 lead to eventually fade away in the end.
Mitchell said he would need to dissect the performance more, but was worried about the lack of patience shown on attack, and the team’s inability to look threatening in the second half.
Asked about the penalty count, Mitchell dismissed it, saying he was more concerned about patience. He added that he didn’t think that a lack of experience was a factor.
“It depends on what you mean by discipline. The first half we scored off two good turnovers, and then we let in one just before halftime having sustained a lot of defence. What is most concerning to me is the lack of shape in attack just after halftime when we were building pressure with the ball. We have to learn to become more patient,” Mitchell said.
“How much experience do you need? We are experiencing situations all the time. In my view I felt we were far too impatient on attack and we need to learn that teamwork comes from working together rather than working on our own.
