KNYSNA RUGBY NEWS – A total of 17 local women rugby players from the Titans Women's Rugby Academy (TWRA) have been called up to the SWD EaGirls training squad for the 2021 Inter-provincial League Campaign.
SWD Rugby named the 36-player squad last Friday, 14 May. The squad called upon the services of 21 forwards and 15 backs from across the SWD.
This year will act as a qualification year where SWD aims to qualify for the Premier or A-Division in 2022.
"While we lost a lot of experienced players due to retirement and unavailability, we are however excited about the prospect of the talented youngsters who are eager to make their mark and step into the footsteps of the legends that went before them, and leave even deeper footprints in years to come," said head coach Aschin Klein.
Prelene Pegram is one of the forwards from TWRA that has been called up.
The SWD EaGirls will take on Griquas in their first game on 26 June before battling the Cheetahs on 3 July, and finally the Griffons on 10 July. If they succeed in qualifying for the final, that match will be played on 17 July.
