Hosted every year by Agulhas Inflatable Boat Club (AIBC) and considered to be the 'World's Toughest Inflatable Boat Challenge', the Trans Agulhas starts every year on 28 December in Plettenberg Bay.
A fast-paced, action-packed water sports event, over 40 inflatable boats take part in the race and battle it out in the waves over the course of four stages.
The first stage, which started today, takes participants down the Southern Cape coastline to Mossel Bay, where they finish for the day. Tomorrow, stage two will take them to Still Bay followed by stage three which will end in Struisbaai on 30 December.
Finally, as the year draws to a close on 31 December, so will the Trans Agulhas as participants travel from Struisbaai to Uilkraalsmond, and finally from Gansbaai to Strand.
This will see them having travelled 700km down the coast in the space of only four days.
