KNYSNA HOCKEY NEWS - Knysna Old Oaks Hockey Club's annual Summer League was scheduled to draw to a close on Wednesday 18 March, but the last week was called off due to concerns over the spread of the coronavirus.
The Summer League is held annually in the months of February and March as a means for Old Oaks to get its players back into the thick of things ahead of the upcoming hockey season, while also providing a means for potential players to introduce themselves to the club and the sport.
With 10 teams taking part again, this year's Summer League kicked off on 11 February with matches set to be played at 17:30 and 18:20 on Tuesdays and Thursdays for the next six weeks.

Due to the league being held in a friendly manner, no official log positions were put together even though scores were recorded. It did however serve its purpose in getting people back onto the hockey pitch, while also going beyond that, according to league organiser Nigel Leverton.
"We're really happy with the turnout at this year's league, and it's also given us a great opportunity to develop some youngsters and give them coaching and exposure," he said.
Old Oaks will now turn its focus to preparations for the 2020 league.
