The money was last week handed to a number of local organizations.
Of the bigger beneficiaries were Vermont Old Age Home (R36 471.00 ), Loeriehof Old age Home (R36 471.00), Die Werkswinkel (R38 746.00), Knysna Child Welfare (R38 746.00 ) and Knysna Red Cross (R38 746.00).
The main charities for next year's marathon and half marathon will be Knysna Hospice and Epilepsy. The Knysna Marathon Club management thanked the event sponsors - Pick n Pay, Cape Times, New Balance, Nedbank, Heineken, Triaction by Triumph, as well as the more than 700 people and companies that assisted in the staging of the event, as well as providing support.
Knysna locals were also thanked for getting behind the Pick n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival and making it their own and sharing their town with the thousands of visitors to the festival.
