KNYSNA NEWS - It's that time of the year again when warm, sunny days and evenings are coming and the Knysna Bowling Club (KBC) is scouting for fresh blood for their upcoming Spring Business League.
The league extends over five weeks and games will be played over five weeks on Fridays – 19 and 26 October, and 2, 9, and 16 November. Play will start at 16:00. If, for any reason, these games are not played on the scheduled Fridays, they will be moved to the following Tuesday.
This league differs from the Summer Business League in that the KPH-team, who came last or second last (they can't remember) earlier this year, has joined again after having practised furiously.
The word is out and other contestants are said to be quivering in their socks.
Any business grouping that still has the guts to join after this announcement, take note: all you need to do is gather four players to represent you, and pay a measly R500 to take part.
This will ensure not only your entrance to the league but will guarantee a spot at the prize-giving "party" on the final evening of the league. There will not only be a prize for the top three teams at the end of the league, but each week's winner will also receive a prize.
The game format you ask? Two teams of four will battle it out over 12 ends per game using 4-3-2-1 scoring, and they are allowed one, and only one, recognised or experienced bowler.
This bowler will incur a "handicap" of 10 points per game. The only rules the rest of the team needs worry about is using flat-soled shoes, which must be worn by all players on the green at all times.
