KNYSNA NEWS - The Knysna Oyster Netball Tournament was dominated by Hornlee-based netball clubs Knysna Loeries and Knysna Jaguars last weekend, as both clubs won two divisions of the two-day tournament.
Held at the Hornlee Sports Fields, the Knysna Oyster Netball Tournament is a coveted trophy for any netball club. Its return this year for the first time since 2019 saw a good response with 23 teams signing up across four divisions - Senior, Junior, Mini-Junior (all of which were women's divisions) and Men's.

The tournament commenced on Friday 8 July, with teams in the women's divisions getting the ball rolling with round-robin stages. The winners of the Mini-Junior division were crowned on Friday and Knysna Jaguars took home first place with Hornlee Hotshots second and Sunshines third.
The round-robin stages of the Junior and Senior divisions wrapped up on Saturday, with the knockout portion of the Junior division starting in the early afternoon.

Knysna Loeries were the victors in the Junior division, beating runners-up New Age (White Location) in the final, and Seven Stars (Rheenendal) were the third-placed team.
In the Senior division some great, competitive netball was played throughout the two days.
The round-robin finished mid-afternoon on Saturday, with the knockouts starting later. After some tough games Knysna Loeries A and Atlantic Spurs A (Sedgefield) met in the final, and it was Knysna Loeries A who emerged victorious from a strong tussle with Atlantic Spurs A settling for second place and Atlantic Spurs B team third place.
In the Men's division only two teams were entered, and the game was to be played on Saturday afternoon, but the opposition did not pitch for the match and Knysna Jaguars were therefore named as winners of the division.
