HOCKEY NEWS - The Eden Men's Country Districts hockey team went unbeaten at the recent South African Country Districts (SACD), beating hosts Mpumalanga in a thrilling final to claim the region's 14th Men's SACD title.
The men's tournament was held in White River, Mpumalanga, from 9 to 15 July and saw SACD teams from around the country descend upon the small town for a week of fine hockey action.
Eden emerged top of their pool, ahead of Mpumalanga only on goal difference. They overcame Limpopo in the semi-final to set up a date with the hosts once more, this time in the final.
It was a thrilling and fitting conclusion to the tournament. Mpumalanga took the lead twice, with the men from the Garden Route battling back each time before a last-minute goal proved the decider.
Eden won 3-2, and in doing so defended their SACD title to claim the district's 14th title overall.
