KNYSNA NEWS - A 12-year-old girl from Concordia Primary School is holding Knysna’s name high again this year after being chosen as one of only three girls from the area to be taken up in the Eden Schools Netball squads.
Anuchia Kiewiets (u13), along with Dominique de Jongh (u12) and Jay-Lee Sass (u13), will be heading to the Western Cape Inter-Regional tournament in Wellington from 12 to 14 July as part of a group of 30 girls from Eden, separated into u11, u12 and u13 teams.
Last year, Anuchia made history when she became Concordia Primary’s first learner to be awarded Western Cape provincial colours for netball.
Apart from her obvious love of netball, Anuchia says jokingly that she plays because “it keeps me out of trouble”, adding, “I would prefer to study to become a teacher though when I am older, but will probably play some club netball.”
Getting to the tournament, paying for accommodation and registration though, is where Anuschia and her parents, Benjamin and Elizabeth, have hit a snag.
“We as parents know how important it is to support our child, especially with this amazing achievement, but it is very difficult. We would appreciate any assistance offered,” says Elizabeth.
