KNYSNA NEWS - For most people, completing a 5km parkrun is something to be proud of. For Rob Green, Saturday’s 506th Knysna parkrun marked an extraordinary milestone: his 500th parkrun finish.
On a glorious sunny morning, perfect for a brisk run or leisurely walk, more than 200 participants turned out at the weekly event, many accompanied by their four-legged friends on leashes.
But while there were the usual races for the front runners and plenty of personal goals being chased, much of the attention was on Green, who has completed parkruns in venues around the world on his journey to the 500 milestone.
His achievement is a testament to remarkable consistency, perseverance and a love of parkrun that has taken him far beyond his home event in Knysna.
At the sharp end of the field, Sibonele Human was first across the finish line, with regular front-runner Tyler Abrahams finishing second. Shine Brooks was the first woman home.
