KNYSNA NEWS - Eden Bowls was very proud to announce that two of the local bowlers, Christopher Patton and Elma Davis, received their Protea colours and will represent Bowls SA in the Commonwealth Games in Australia.
Patton, who is a physically disabled player in the B6 category, is a member of the Knysna Bowling Club and practises his sport from a wheelchair.
Davis, who received her Protea colours at previous occasions and represented South Africa in international tournaments, is a member of the George Bowling Club and a highly competitive and talented player.
The 2018 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XXI Commonwealth Games and commonly known as Gold Coast 2018, is an international multisport event for members of the Commonwealth that will be held on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia, between 4 and 15 April.
The currently approved sports include the 10 core sports of athletics, badminton, boxing, hockey, lawn bowls, netball, sevens rugby, squash, swimming and weightlifting.
Integrated disabled competitions are also scheduled for the Games in nine sports: swimming, athletics, cycling, table tennis, cycling, powerlifting and lawn bowls.
