PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Avid golfers will soon have some extra motivation to show off their skills on the golf course as Plettenberg Bay Country Club will be hosting a golf day in aid of the coastal holiday town's crime fighters.
Plettenberg Bay Crime Prevention Association (PBCPA) chair Sally Turner said that the organisation relied on public goodwill, fundraisers, donations and sponsorships for essential protective gear and equipment for its volunteers. She added that the PBCPA volunteers also cover their own costs when responding and assisting in emergency situations.
"Like any volunteer, owners of security companies, carry their own and their response officers' costs to non-clients and public emergency incidents," Turner said.
She further said that this was why the organisation was ecstatic to announce that the Plettenberg Bay Country Club will be hosting a fundraising event in aid of the PBCPA volunteer patrollers, Plett Rapid Response and First Responders on 6 October this year.
The community can get involved by sponsoring a hole or by catering at a 'water hole'.
Plettenberg Bay Country Club has an 18-hole golf course set in a private nature reserve and offers much more than just a golfing experience - participants will be treated to the abundant animal and birdlife.
Turner asks for support and says, "Your support or participation is essential to raise much needed funds in our endeavour to respond and assist our greater Bitou community in security and emergency incidents." For more information or to pledge support, contact Ina Olivier on 083 271 1142.
