PLETTENBERG BAY GOLF NEWS - Some of the country's most seasoned golfers will be taking to the green at the Plettenberg Bay Country Club for four days of top-notch golfing at the SA Senior Open.
The tournament is part of the Sunshine Senior Tour, which caters for professional athletes over the age of 50 and has become renowned for attracting golfers such as Gary Player and James Kingston. This will be the fourth time the tournament is held in Plett.
The SA Open attracts top golf players as well as amateurs who play the first two days with the professionals. "This usually culminates in memorable experiences for the amateurs as they play alongside some of the 'legends' of this game," the organisers said.
The Sunshine Senior tourna-ments are held in partnership with the Endangered Wildlife Trust, with proceeds of each event going towards rehabilitation efforts for an endangered species.
The Plett event will take place at Plettenberg Bay Country Club over four days, with the first two days, the pro-am, featuring both professionals and amateurs, and the last two days catering for a field of professionals only.
The tournament is not only a highlight on the sports calendar, but the Bitou Municipality's communication team said it also provides a boost to the local tourism industry as it brings a large number of visitors to the region and generates significant exposure both locally and internationally about what the area has to offer.
The tournament will be played from 6 to 9 April.
