PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - The Plett Surf Lifesaving Club received a welcome boost from locals as their recent golf day fundraiser was a resounding success.
Plett Tourism Association's Cindy Wilson-Trollip said the strong winds sweeping through the area did not deter die-hard golfers who came out to support the event, which took place on 2 December at the Plettenberg Bay Country Club.
The Plett Surf Lifesaving Club does important work in Bitou by developing lifesaving skills, competition drills, education and other skills development among the area's youth.
Plett Tourism and local tourism businesses stepped up to the plate and supported the event through sponsorships.
Wilson-Trollip said Brayley Booyse and Andy Nonkosana manned the Plett Tourism table, where the golfers had to work for their rewards – "a number of prizes given generously by Plett businesses who joined with Plett Tourism to participate in the worthy cause".
Golfers had to participate in a ring toss game to win a prize, and no one left empty-handed as consolation for no hits was a bottle of water and Plett Tourism Association licence disc stickers.
"Many happy golfers left the 16th hole with prizes," Wilson-Trollip said.
According to the club's team, the event was a huge success.
The proceeds of the event would go towards essential equipment for the club. "None of this would have been possible had it not been for the gigantic support of a number of businesses and the Plett community. You guys rock," they said.
