KNYSNA FOOTBALL NEWS – The second round of the KLFA Domestic League, the top division of football in the Knysna area, was played on 15 and 16 May with title defenders Smuts United going top.
The weekend also saw the resumption of the KLFA Super League, which is the second division of football competition in and around Knysna.
The KLFA Domestic League resumed on Sunday 9 May following a 14-month break in competition due to the ongoing pandemic. After the first round of fixtures Ocean Eleven, Pine Stars and Young Stars made up the top three, in that order, as Smuts United lay in fourth following a win and a draw in their first two games.
The second round of fixtures of the 2020/21 season saw games played in Rheenendal and at the Hornlee Sport Grounds. Super League games were also split between Saturday and Sunday, but were played at Loerie Park and the Hornlee Sport Grounds.
JR Stars and Sinako kicked off the Super League games on Saturday and played out to a 3-3 draw. This was followed by a 4-3 win for Richmond City over Mthatha City, before Voota beat Sinako 3-1. JR Stars drew their second game 1-1 against Mthatha City, while Voota beat Richmond 1-0 in the final game of the day.
Liviwe Nkantini plays a long pass while in action for Red Eagles. Ten games were played in Rheenendal on Saturday, and the first carried the largest scoreline as Domestic League rookies Young Stars beat Slow Town 5-1. The highest scoring game of the day would however be played between Young Boys and Flamingo, with the latter earning a 4-3 victory.
On Sunday the Super League action kicked off with a 3-1 win for Young Brothers over Young Strikers. Oupad United and Warriors played out to a 1-1 draw, Pine Stars' second team beat Young Strikers 3-1, Oupad United beat Young Brothers 4-2, and Pine Stars beat Warriors 4-2.

There were three Domestic League games on Sunday where Flamingo beat CX Swallows 5-1, Red Eagles also beat CX Swallows 5-1, while Flamingo edged out Red Eagles at the end of the day 2-1.
