Pieters and Marrow will embark on a cricket journey to Potchefstroom where the cricket week will be held from December 16 to 20.
A capping ceremony in honour of Pieters and Marrow and sponsored by Coca Cola and sponsorship marketer, Playmakers, was held during school assembly at Oakhill School on Friday, December 7.
The two young cricketers received their caps from Coca Cola and all their fellow-learners received Coca Cola cooldrinks to celebrate with their friends.
Kidwell said that it was definitely an amazing achievement for the school. No other Oakhill learner has ever been selected to participate in such a prestigious cricket event. "We wish both Pieters and Marrow well and know that they will do a great job of not only representing Oakhill, but also their town and region," concluded Kidwell.
The Coca-Cola Khaya Majola u/19 Cricket Week is a tournament that young cricketers dream of participating in. According to Cricket South Africa, "This is where the country's future stars show the skills they have learnt over all the years of playing schools cricket. If you perform exceptionally well here, there is the possibility of being selected for the SA Schools side or the Schools Colts team. The top performers in those chosen teams also stand a good chance of being chosen for the SA u/19 squad and from there on your cricket career can only go on to bigger things."
